Lady Ostapeck’s American Costumes and Portraits 18.3.2011–18.3.2012
Exhibition
The mysterious artist name ‘Lady Ostapeck’ hides an American portrait photographer who was born in New York in 1918.
Lady Ostapeck has used her bellows camera from the early 20th century, which she found at a jumble sale, for taking
portraits wherein history, the present, and fantasy become intertwined. A lover of the history of fashion, Lady Ostapeck
has amassed a sizeable collection of historic costumes and textiles, which she uses in her skilfully created portraits.
The American fashion dresses and accessories are from the 1840s to the 1950s.
